Herman L. Creveling- March 26, 1978

Herman Creveling taught for 45 years.  39 of them were in the Mansfield City Schools.  He was a highly respected educator.  Creveling was principal at the former Bowman School, which was later named in honor of him.  After his years as principal, he was the Richland County law librarian for 14 years.  The Mansfield News Journal described Creveling to be “as much a part of Mansfield as Central Park” when he died December 2, 1952.

Creveling had many ideas for changes in subjects and teaching methods.  These changes are what helped to make him notable in his educational profession.
