Flora Lentzy, Florence Wiley, and Rose Cherry- June 22, 1937

            Flora Lentzy, Florence Wiley, and Rose Cherry simultaneously retired in the 1930’s after teaching for a total of 121 years.  The three teachers were notable for being so loyal to the Mansfield City Schools and were commended by Superintendent W.L. Miller in letters of recognition of their service.  All three teachers were graduates of Mansfield high school and had lived most of their life in the city. 

            Lentzy, who was born in Portsmouth, began her teaching career at Hedges Elementary.  She attended Michigan State Normal School, Kent State, Ohio State, and Ashland College. 

Cherry had served the city schools since 1899.  She obtained her college degree at Wooster College, Kent State, the old Mansfield Normal school, and at Ashland College.

Wiley taught in the city schools for 37 years.  She also attended Kent State College and Ashland College.
